UPDATE ON ROY PHILLIPS This is an e-mail Roy sent after his visit to Barnes. ?ldquo; From the doctor's appointment at Barnes we found than I am not a candidate for a bone marrow transplant. This is due to the chemo I had previously. That chemo in all likelihood destroyed too many stem cells which would be needed for a transplant. In any case, after learning that even with a transplant the cancer would likely return in two years, I would not have undergone the procedure. Judy and I, along with the doctors decided to use a drug called ?ldquo;Rityxan?rdquo;. This is an antibody which attaches to the cancer cells . I will get 4 treatments, one a week for 4 weeks. Then in 6 months the doctor will do the scan again. If the cancer has grown, they will use some other chemo drug to treat the cancer. While there is no cure for Mantel Cell Lymphoma, these drugs should help some. All of the treatment will be done in Springfield which is good. Judy and I thank you for your prayers in advance. Roy
