PROOFS FOR GOD'S EXISTENCE
THE COSMOLOGICAL ARGUMENT (CONTINUED)

We demonstrated last week that every "effect" must have and adequate "cause."  We also showed last week that either material matter or a "mind" must be responsible for the "effect" we know as the Universe in which we live.  Likewise, we sated the scientific laws of thermodynamics prove that "matter" is not eternal, for the Universe is running down.  Since something cannot come from nothing (another scientific principle), something must have always been--something is eternal.  If matter is not eternal, and it is not, then that which is eternal must be "mind" ---a great, powerful, eternal Mind capable of creating the Universe.  Man and his mind are not eternal so we cannot have made the cosmos,  The Great, Powerful, Eternal Mind must be God.

Think of it this way.  Matter has not always existed, so where did it come from? Also, evolutionary scientists agree that matter was originally lifeless.  Since much matter in the world today is endowed with life, where did the power of life come from?  Two scientific principles clearly state that 1) from nothing, nothing comes; and 2) life can only come from life.  Lifeless matter could not have created itself, and matter is not eternal; and non-living matter could not give rise to living matter.  Even dead mindless matter could not have come from nothing!

The law of cause and effect for the Universe demands an uncaused First Cause adequate to produce the grand effect of the Universe.  Is it not more realistic to believe in an Eternal Mind possessing the power necessary to create the Universe?  Even the mind of man, as inferior as we are, shows the superiority of mind over matter.  man can accomplish great things using his mental powers to make wonderful things from matter.  Lifeless matter on its own remains just that--dead lifeless matter.  Remember, "Every house is built by someone, but he who built all things is God." (Hebrews 3:4). Evolution is not a sufficient scientific cause to account for the Universe; but God is!
